The genuine chrome.exe file is a software component of Google Chrome by Google.
Chrome.exe is an executable file that runs the Google Chrome Web Browser, a free software program that displays web pages. This is not a critical Windows component and should be removed if known to cause problems.

Everyone recommends removal of this process because malware has entered systems posing as the original Chrome EXE.  This site tells you how to remove it, and you should also boot your computer into SAFE mode and run a full MalwareBytes  scan.
