Good to see him gone. I never click on any link posted by someone I don't know.

If your are using At&T, watch your step. Some of the links on the home page are not clean either.

I have an old (junk) computer that I use to open E-mail I'm not sure of. I really don't care what happens to it. I don't have anything on it but a few games. If it gets too messed up, I have an old XP restore disk and it can quickly be restored to it's current "junk" state. Handy little dude.

Re:Harmful Links

I have worked on several XP machines over the last few weeks for people who are determined to put off buying another retail computer system as long as possible... after updating as far as MS updates went, updating Flash/Java, and updating to the latest Firefox, I turned off automatic updates in the system and hid the icon but left the Avast Software Updater to notify on all other updates, with the exception of IE, which I set it to ignore. Firefox is the default browser, and security is handled by Avast, Malwarebytes including MBAR, Spyware Blaster, Online Armor, and both the Avast WebRep service and WOT. I used a Dell Latitude running XP Pro with these programs on it to visit all the malware links that our recent bad guy posted all over the forum, and every time the attempted attack was stopped before it could begin.

I told the users I would maintain their machines until the security tools began dropping XP support, which in the case of Avast and Malwarebytes is known to be at least three years off, and according to what I have seen online about the others is likely similar. Bottom line is that for general usage, a properly secured XP machine is going to be usable for a few years yet. A user will have to be vigilant about maintaining the security on the machine, but if they are willing to do it these systems can be safely used after EOL. An estimated 95% of ATMs and point-of-sale terminals are still running XP, and some European governments have purchased support from MS at through-the-nose prices, or have hired third party technical support, since so much of their software still depends on it and it is so deeply integrated into their data handling and archiving systems.

I can't tell you what links are bad on AT&T, because they change from day to day. If you don't have WOT, get it and pay attention. I always look to see what color the little circle is. If it is orange or red, I back out . Yes, I know the ratings are not always accurate, but why take a chance?
